Who is Alan Vink?

This is me...with everything that I carry, ready to go!

Ever since my first big trip at the tender age of 17 through Africa on a Yamaha XT500, from Johannesburg through to Tanzania and back, I fell in love with long distance, adventure motorcycling.

I believe it’s one of the most exciting ways to experience the world and it’s people – as long as you’re up for the challenges you’re likely to face on your adventures. This is one activity that is definitely not for the faint hearted, and while reading my website – you will find out why!

I intend on extending this site to include many other interests, including helpful information and insight into a wide array of interesting fields that span areas such as aeronautics, advanced composite structures and plastics, through to motorcycles, adventure and of course…the Internet! Right now it’s about a trip I am busy with from Los Angeles through Central America.

Through this new medium of ‘blogging’ on the Internet, my intentions are to share this with friends and family, and everyone that is Interested. The blog that I’ve created is a work in progress, and like most things, the more you practise, the better you get – so here goes.
